Directions to our field

Here is How You Can Find R.G. Satow RC Flying Field

From Lexington take 29-70/B-85 North about 1 mile and turn right on Robert Everhart Road at the 'Old Toy Chest Barn'.  Go to the end of the road and turn left on East Park Ave.  Go about 100 yards and turn right onto Lee Smith Rd.  At the end of Lee Smith Road you will run out of pavement but stay on course down the gravel road.

Note - You can click on the image below which will take you to Google Earth.

Cross the double rail road tracks very carefully and then proceed through the metal gates to our flying field.

TAI Railroad Crossing

If when you come up to the large metal gates and they are locked, no club members are flying at the field. You can usually find TAI members flying on Tuesday and Sunday afternoons, so please join us. If metal gates are open, just continue down the gravel road which will dead end out at our flying field.

R.G. Satow RC Flying Field covers a total area of 30 acres of unobstructed land. We have an 80' x 700' well maintained grass runway that was graded, crowned and re-seeded in 2015. There is a covered shelter area with plenty of picnic tables for watching RC aircraft while relaxing in the shade. In the pit area we provide the pilots with 15 starting and run-up benches, all custom built by our members. We fly year round every Sunday and Tuesday if the weather is permitting (and sometimes even when it's not). As a member, you can fly anytime. Come fly with us and we think you will agree that R.G. Satow RC Flying Field is one of the finest RC flying facilities anywhere in the area.

Safety is a critically important component of all field and flying operations. Safety rules are clearly posted on the club building. Whether you are a current member or guest pilot, please read and heed all TAI safety rules and the AMA Safety Code. At this time, TAI does not allow operation of turbine-powered aircraft without special permission of (during an event) the Contest Dirctor or at other times by special permission of the TAI officers. A emergency use fire extinguisher and first aid kit are also on hand.

Our field has a small solar-powered (battery back-up) 12 volt charging station (named Fred's Juice Bar) on the outside of the upper storage building on the South wall. Just attach your charger to the metal bars using alligator clips and charge away. A portable toilet is always on site on the North side of the upper storage building. During sanctioned events and other club events, the grill produces some of the best hot dogs and hamburgers you will find anywhere. During events, overnight camping is also allowed, but note there are no electrical "hookups" for RV's or running water.
